In 2015, my husband and I attended the gorgeous wedding of our friends. I was blown away by the venue. So much so, that I couldn't get it out of my mind long after the wedding was over. With a background in art, design, event planning, weddings, and a career in hospitality, I felt that this was my calling. After the birth of our first child, Lilly, I spent my maternity leave tending to our new baby and drawing up a business plan. A year and a half later, we were ready to begin construction.
I named the venue Magnolia Bend for several reasons. My Great Aunt, Betty Smith, who was like a Grandmother to me, loved Magnolias. They were all over her house, and there is a large Magnolia tree right beside her porch. That porch, as well as my childhood home are both in walking distance of our location. I loved playing with the big Magnolia leaves when I was a child. She passed away the week our Lilly was born. I wanted to honor her memory. We decided on Bend, due to the extreme curves on Flagon Rd, our location. It is the community I grew up in, and was proud to return home to.
Our style is French Country. I only realized after it was built that it was completely inspired by my favorite childhood books. The Secret Garden and Anne of Green Gables leading the pack.
